Case Study: An Elegant Shaker Kitchen in Marple

From Inspiration to Installation – A Classic Kitchen Reimagined
This elegant shaker-style kitchen in Marple is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can completely transform a space. What started as a casual visit to our showroom soon became the beginning of a dream project for the homeowner, who fell in love with our Kolten display and envisioned a timeless kitchen full of personality and purpose.
The original kitchen layout featured an awkward island that restricted movement and blocked access to the conservatory, limiting its use as a snug or dining space. Poorly positioned appliances and inefficient storage further impacted functionality. Kitchenality’s challenge was to create a kitchen that combined visual impact with intelligent design — a place that felt just as good to use as it looked.
Project Overview

Worktop: Diorre Arezzo by Bluestone Worktops
Special Features: Bespoke mantle, double pantry, mirror splashback, oak drawer internals
Designing with Purpose
The client’s vision was to create a space with character and elegance — something practical for everyday living but full of personalised design touches. By removing the obstructive island, we opened up the floorplan, allowing for long, uninterrupted worktop runs and better flow to the conservatory.
A bespoke mantle, custom-built on site, frames the induction hob and brings a sense of heritage and presence to the space. Decorative shelving with integrated lighting adds warmth and personality, giving the client a space to display their favourite pieces.
“I wanted something that felt special — with beautiful storage and traditional details, but with all the practicality of a modern kitchen. Kitchenality really brought that vision to life.”
Design Highlights
Double Pantry Unit
A standout feature in both form and function, the pantry includes full-depth pan drawers, a dovetail oak internal drawer with solid oak fronts, and integrated shelf lighting. Built-in spice racks on each door maximise the storage potential.
70kg Load-Capacity Deep Drawers
Perfect for heavy cookware and large items, these deep drawers offer strength, smooth functionality, and effortless organisation.
Diorre Arezzo Worktop by Bluestone
This 20mm worktop delivers the durability of quartz with the luxury of natural stone. Its refined finish brings elegance to everyday meal prep.
Antique Brass Handles
Mixed sizes of antique brass handles provide easy access while enhancing the kitchen’s warm and timeless aesthetic.
6mm Grey Mirror Splashback
Installed behind the hob, this seamless mirrored backsplash from S. Taylors & Sons reflects light, creates depth, and adds a polished finish.
Bespoke Mantle Feature
Custom built on-site, the mantle draws the eye and anchors the space — offering a classic touch that complements the shaker design.
A Kitchen That Works for Everyday Life
This kitchen, finished in Kolten Light Grey and Graphite, is a masterclass in traditional design with a modern sensibility. The soft grey cabinetry keeps the space light and airy, while graphite accents add richness and balance.
With improved flow, discreet storage, and a welcoming layout, the space is now ideal for both family use and entertaining. Whether it’s making a cup of tea in the morning, unloading the weekly shop, or enjoying a glass of wine with friends — everything has its place.
“The new kitchen fits our lifestyle perfectly. It’s a joy to use, a joy to look at, and somewhere we’re proud to spend time.”
Conclusion
This Marple project is a testament to the value of well-planned kitchen design. From the initial showroom visit to the final installation, every step was rooted in collaboration and craftsmanship. The result is a space that blends beauty with practicality — a true family kitchen, built to last and to love.
