Overview

The project

This project involved a complete transformation of a traditional country home in the High Peak. The original kitchen featured beautifully made oak cabinetry, but over time the layout had become dated and no longer offered the space, light or flow the homeowners needed.

By removing walls and opening the adjoining rooms, we were able to completely rethink the space, creating a wonderfully light and welcoming kitchen and dining area that feels far more connected.

The finished design combines the character of the property with a fresh, elegant country aesthetic, creating a kitchen that feels entirely at home within its rural surroundings while offering everything needed for modern-day living.

The detail

Design highlights

Opening up the space

Opening up the space

Previously the kitchen felt enclosed and separate from the adjoining living and dining space. Removing the dividing walls has transformed the ground floor, letting natural light travel through the room and creating a much greater sense of space. The kitchen, dining area and surrounding rooms now flow naturally into one another.

Timeless shaker cabinetry

Timeless shaker cabinetry

A classic shaker design complements the traditional character of the property. Soft sage green cabinetry with warm neutral tall units gives the kitchen a relaxed country feel while keeping the scheme fresh. Subtle brass-toned handles add warmth and a beautiful finishing detail.

A generous central island

A generous central island

At the centre of the kitchen is a substantial island, giving a generous preparation area and valuable extra storage. The expansive white worktop keeps the room bright, while the integrated Siemens venting induction hob lets the island stay clean and open with no overhead extractor.

Bespoke pantry storage

Bespoke pantry storage

A dedicated pantry cabinet makes excellent use of the tall run surrounding the Siemens ovens. Behind the full-height door, shelving and deep pull-out drawers keep dry foods and everyday essentials easy to reach, so a lot of storage stays hidden behind elegant shaker doors.

Light quartz and mirrored details

Light quartz and mirrored details

Crisp white quartz worktops contrast with the cabinetry and help bounce light through the room. Mirrored splashbacks add another layer of detail, increasing the sense of space and giving a contemporary counterpoint to the traditional shaker doors.

Living with it

Designed around everyday life

Storage and function were considered throughout, from the island and pantry to the integrated appliances and the cabinetry extending into the dining area.

Designed around everyday life
01

Room to entertain

An integrated wine cooler gives dedicated drinks storage, and the generous work surfaces leave plenty of room for preparing food, entertaining and everyday family life.

02

Respecting the property

The existing arched timber doors, leaded windows and warm natural wood tones sit beautifully alongside the new painted cabinetry. The soft palette lets those original details become part of the design rather than compete with it.

03

Transformed, not erased

The result is a kitchen that feels fresh and completely changed without losing the warmth and individuality of its countryside setting.

In short

Bespoke touches that make the difference

The greatest change here is not simply the new cabinetry, but the way the homeowners can now use and enjoy the space.

By removing walls and creating one generous open-plan kitchen and dining area, a previously enclosed and dated layout has become bright, spacious and welcoming.

Two-tone shaker cabinetry, a generous island, bespoke pantry storage, Siemens appliances and carefully considered finishes give the kitchen everything expected of a modern home while remaining beautifully suited to its traditional High Peak setting.

The before and after photographs show just how transformative thoughtful kitchen design and space planning can be, creating a home that feels lighter, more connected and full of character.
