Case Study: A Scandinavian-Inspired Kitchen in Hazel Grove

Transforming a Much-Loved Family Home with Kitchenality
After 37 years in their cherished Hazel Grove home, the homeowners decided it was time for a complete transformation — not just of their kitchen, but of how they live and connect with the space. With a strong desire to modernise and create better flow into the garden, they turned once again to Kitchenality, and to Tracy, who had designed their previous kitchen 21 years earlier.
This project was more than a renovation — it was a heartfelt upgrade to their forever home, designed to bring lasting joy, comfort and functionality.
Project Overview
Location: Hazel Grove, Cheshire
Style: Scandinavian-inspired, clean and contemporary
Finish: White cabinetry with grey/beige worktops and smoked grey splashback
Key Features: Angled island with deep drawers, integrated seating, expanded garden access
Scope: Full kitchen renovation with layout reconfiguration, new windows and doors, and ceiling removal
The Journey Begins: From Trust to Transformation
Having had a Kitchenality kitchen fitted two decades ago — which still looked good — the homeowners returned to Tracy, knowing she could deliver something truly special for their newly reimagined space. A visit to the Macclesfield showroom confirmed their decision, as they fell in love with the quality and diversity of styles on display.
“A kitchen is a big task to undertake — quite scary in fact — and it was important to us to have someone we trusted to pull it off. Tracy was that person.”
Making the Most of the Space
With a smaller kitchen footprint, the couple were unsure if their dream layout — which included an island with garden views — was even possible. But Tracy’s fresh perspective and space-maximising expertise brought the vision to life.
“When we saw the design on screen, I asked whose kitchen it was. Tracy said, ‘It’s yours!’ We couldn’t believe how different it looked — she made so much of the space.”
A key part of the design was the angled island, which provides seating, storage and direct views of the garden. The drawers beneath the island offer significantly more space than traditional cupboards — and, in fact, there’s now more storage than the homeowners need.
“We now have so much storage we haven’t even filled it all!”
Thoughtful Finishes & Practical Beauty
The couple envisioned a clean, fresh, Scandinavian look — which can sometimes run the risk of feeling clinical. To balance the design, Tracy paired white units with soft grey/beige worktops and a smoked grey splashback, creating warmth and subtle contrast.
The result is light, elegant and tranquil — exactly what the homeowners hoped for.
Seamless Installation
The transformation involved significant structural changes — removing windows, blocking up doors, and lowering the ceiling. But the installation process, managed by Kitchenality and carried out by master craftsman Ian, couldn’t have gone smoother.
“Ian was just fantastic. As a control freak, I needed to know it would be fitted perfectly — and it was. He’s a true craftsman and a joy to have in the house.”
A Space Reimagined
Today, the kitchen feels completely different. It’s brighter, more open, and finally connects to the garden — something the homeowners had long hoped for.
“We had a vision of what we wanted, but never thought it was achievable. This has completely changed how we feel about our home. It’s one of the best things we’ve ever done.”
Final Thoughts
This Hazel Grove renovation is a testament to what can be achieved with vision, trust and expert design. From the creative use of space to the flawless finish, Kitchenality and Tracy delivered a result that exceeded expectations.
The newly transformed kitchen isn’t just functional — it’s emotionally uplifting, making the home feel brand new after nearly four decades. It’s a project that proves how the right design can genuinely change how you live.
“Thank you, Tracy and the team — we’re absolutely thrilled.”
